But as a sim­ple mat­ter of argu­ing hon­est­ly and clear­ly, if your pol­i­cy pre­scrip­tion is “deficit reduc­tion but with­out any tax increas­es” then deficit reduc­tion isn’t actu­al­ly your pol­i­cy pre­scrip­tion at all.
